We replaced the existing exhaust fan in the master bathroom of a Los Altos home with a Panasonic Whisper series fan that has a built-in humidity sensor.
What we did:
Removed the old fan and installed the new Panasonic unit in the same location
Connected it to the existing ducting and the existing circuit, so no new duct runs or wiring were needed
Set up the built-in humidity sensor so the fan turns on automatically when the shower runs and shuts off once the room clears
The result: A quieter fan that runs only when it’s needed, with no need to remember to switch it on or off. Because we reused the existing ducting and circuit, it was a quick swap with minimal disruption to the bathroom.
Thinking about replacing an old bath fan? If your fan is loud, slow to clear steam, or leaves the mirror fogged, a modern humidity-sensing fan is usually a direct replacement. We check that the existing duct and circuit are in good shape before reusing them.
