400 Amp Main Panel Prep for a Commercial Service Upgrade

This is what a real commercial power upgrade looks like before the utility ever touches it. We installed and fully prepped a 400 amp main panel, getting everything dialed in so the utility shift-over goes without a hitch. That prep work is the difference between a smooth handoff and a job that stalls out on switchover day.

Commercial electrical work moves fast - or it should. When a utility crew shows up to make the switch, they need everything on our end to be ready. Connections clean, grounding solid, conduit run correctly. No guesswork, no last-minute fixes. That's exactly how we set this one up.

A 400 amp service upgrade is a serious jump in capacity. It opens the door for heavy equipment, expanded operations, EV charging infrastructure, and anything else a growing commercial property demands. If the existing service is undersized, it becomes a ceiling - and that ceiling gets hit fast.

What a lot of people don't realize is that the panel itself is only part of the equation. The coordination with the utility, the prep work, the rough-in - that's where things can go sideways if the electrician doesn't know what they're doing. We've done enough of these to know exactly what utilities need to see before they'll make the switch.
